Resolute Forest Products has received regional, North American and global recognition for its leadership in corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, as well as for its business practices. Here are the awards we won over the past year alone.

Resolute-LP recognized with four distinctions
In May 2020, our Resolute-LP – Larouche and Resolute-LP – Saint-Prime (Quebec) joint-venture engineered wood products facilities combined for four awards at the APA – The Engineered Wood Association’s 2019 Safety and Health Awards, including sharing honors for Safest Company (3 or fewer facilities) and two distinctions in the Incident-Free Mills category. Larouche also garnered an award in the Innovation in Safety category for its I-joist clamp for web-to-flange separation equipment-based innovation. The awards program celebrates safety and operational excellence in the structural panel and engineered wood industry.

Resolute’s microsite wins international design award
On April 27, 2020, Resolute won an Astrid Award for our Resolute Highlights microsite, garnering Honors in the global Website – Microsite category. Entries were judged by an international panel of design professionals on the basis of concept creativity, clarity and production quality. The Astrids – sponsored by MerComm, a global independent awards organization dedicated to defining the standards of excellence in corporate communications – were established to celebrate the best in international design communications.

Safest Mills in Canada
On April 13, 2020, four Resolute mills – Baie-Comeau, Kénogami, Alma and Thunder Bay – finished at the top of Pulp & Paper Canada’s 2019 Safest Mills in Canada contest for their outstanding safety record. Our Baie-Comeau and Kénogami (Quebec) paper mills placed first and second, respectively, in category C (less than 50,000 worker hours per month), our Alma (Quebec) paper mill placed first in category B (50,000 to 80,000 worker hours per month) and our Thunder Bay (Ontario) pulp and paper mill placed second in category A (more than 80,000 worker hours per month). In the event of ties, mills are ranked by the most to least total worker hours, placing Thunder Bay second despite a tie for first, and putting Baie-Comeau slightly ahead of Kénogami. Pulp & Paper Canada has benchmarked mills according to their safety records in an annual ranking since 1926.

Recognition from Quebec Forest Industry Council
Forest Products Mauricie sawmill recognized for excellence in quality control management
On March 10, 2020, Resolute’s Forest Products Mauricie (Quebec) sawmill was recognized by the Quebec Forest Industry Council (Conseil de l’industrie forestière du Québec, or CIFQ) for demonstrating excellence in quality control management throughout 2019. The principal voice of Quebec’s forest products industry, the CIFQ is a non-profit organization representing the interests of its 94 members.

RECYC-QUÉBEC Construction ReCycle Award
Resolute recognized for contribution to the development of waste reduction guidelines
On February 20, 2020, Resolute received a Construction ReCycle Award from RECYC-QUÉBEC, a governmental organization working to promote a circular economy and fight climate change by reducing, reusing, recycling and recovering residual materials. The award recognizes our Gatineau (Quebec) newsprint mill’s contribution to the development of guidelines for sorting wood debris from the construction, renovation and demolition industries. The guidelines will serve to maximize the recovery of post-consumer wood products, diverting these materials from landfills.
