Lori Kilgour has been appointed chief information officer – North America for the Paper Excellence Group. She assumed her new role on November 29, 2023.
Ms. Kilgour previously served as senior vice president, Process Improvement and Chief Information Officer for Resolute Forest Products from June 2019 to November 2023, as vice president, Information Technology, from July 2017 to May 2019, as vice president and program director from July 2015 to July 2017, and as vice president, Operational Excellence, Engineering and Energy, from January 2013 to July 2015. Prior to joining Resolute in 2013, she worked at Tembec, Verso Corporation/International Paper and Catalyst.
John Lafave
Senior Vice President, Commercial Pulp and Tissue (Paper Excellence Group)
John Lafave has been appointed senior vice president, Commercial Pulp and Tissue (pulp and tissue business unit), for the Paper Excellence Group. He assumed his new role on July 1, 2023.
Mr. Lafave has worked for over 35 years in the forest products industry. He worked for Resolute Forest Products (and its predecessor companies) since 2003 and was appointed to his previous role of senior vice president, Pulp and Paper Sales and Marketing, in January 2011. Prior to joining Resolute, Mr. Lafave held progressive positions in sales with UPM-Kymmene and Repap Enterprises.
Daniel Ouellet
Senior Vice President, Human Resources – North America (Paper Excellence Group)
Daniel Ouellet has been appointed senior vice president, Human Resources – North America for the Paper Excellence Group. He assumed his new role on October 4, 2023.
Mr. Ouellet previously served as senior vice president, Human Resources, for Resolute Forest Products from May 2018 to October 3, 2023, as vice president, Human Resources, for Resolute’s Canadian and U.S. operations from January 2016 to May 2018, and as vice president, Human Resources, for its Canadian operations from November 2013 to January 2016. He held a range of other human resources positions since joining Resolute in September 2000 and also acquired operational experience leading the company’s sawmill operations in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec. Prior to joining Resolute, Mr. Ouellet worked with Alliance Forest Products, Alcan and a regional trade union.

Hugues Simon has been appointed president of the wood products business unit for the Paper Excellence Group. He assumed his new role on July 28, 2023.
Mr. Simon previously served as president, Wood Products, for Resolute Forest Products from March 2021 to July 2023, and as a special advisor to the senior vice president and chief financial officer from January 2021 to March 2021. Prior to joining Resolute, he was president of BarretteWood Inc. from July 2016 to November 2020, and served as vice president, Sales and Procurement, for BarretteWood from August 2012 to July 2016. He also served as vice president, Sales and Marketing and Value-Added Operations – Wood Products, for Resolute and held a range of other positions with Resolute and its predecessor companies from 1999 to 2012.
Richard Tremblay
President, Pulp and Tissue (Paper Excellence Group)
Richard Tremblay has been appointed president of the pulp and tissue business unit for the Paper Excellence Group. He assumed his new role on February 2, 2024.
Mr. Tremblay previously served as senior vice president, Pulp, Paper and Tissue Operations (pulp and tissue business unit), for the Paper Excellence Group from July 2023 to January 2024, as senior vice president, Pulp and Paper Operations, for Resolute Forest Products from March 2018 to July 2023, as senior vice president, Pulp and Paper Group, from June 2015 to February 2018, and as senior vice president, Pulp and Paper Operations, from February 2014 to May 2015. He served as interim senior vice president, Pulp and Paper Operations, from November 2013 to January 2014, and as vice president, Pulp and Paper Operations, from June 2011 to October 2013. Prior to joining Resolute in June 2011, he served as general manager of several mills at Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation between 2002 and 2011.
