BIG Awards for Business
Green Company of the Year
On November 10, 2020, Resolute was recognized by the Business Intelligence Group’s BIG Awards for Business as Green Company of the Year in the Enterprise/Manufacturing category. The judging panel, selected from the global business community, was impressed by the company’s industry-leading greenhouse gas emission reductions, responsible sourcing program, improvements in energy efficiency and resource consumption. The BIG Awards for Business reward annually companies, products and people that are leading in their respective industries.
CNESST Occupational Health and Safety Awards
Innovation (Large Business)
On October 29, 2020, our Saint-Thomas sawmill employees were honored by Quebec’s Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), during its 36th regional occupational health and safety conference, with a bronze award in the innovation category (large business) – Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. Saint-Thomas was rewarded for its new lock system with anti-error coding and RFID key. The Occupational Health and Safety Awards are organized annually by the CNESST in every region of Quebec in order to recognize companies that, through their determination, creativity and values, help promote health and safety in the province.
Excellence in online communications
On October 8, 2020, Resolute received an honors award for its Resolute Highlights microsite as part of MerComm’s 2020 Galaxy Awards, an international competition that celebrates excellence in marketing communications. The microsite highlights our business segments as well as key economic, environmental and social performance indicators. This marks the second consecutive year it was recognized in this category.
Forest Products Association of Canada Awards of Excellence
Industry Innovation Award; Skills Award for Indigenous Youth
On September 21, 2020, a Resolute employee and a former co-op student were recognized by the Forest Products Association of Canada's (FPAC) 2020 Awards of Excellence program. Bonny Wood, a process product engineer at our Thunder Bay (Ontario) pulp and paper mill, received the Industry Innovation Award for her leadership in the safe installation and start-up of our thermomechanical pulp biorefinery, which is developing innovative bioproducts derived from wood. Autumn Quenville, a member of the Whitesand First Nation and a former millwright co-op student at our Thunder Bay mill, received FPAC’s Skills Award for Indigenous Youth for her pursuit of a career in the forest products industry. The annual event celebrates the men and women who have made special contributions to strengthening Canada’s forest products sector and forest communities. FPAC presented the latter award in partnership with the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers.
International Business Awards – Stevies
Executive of the Year – Manufacturing; Achievement in Human Resources; Human Resources Department of the Year
On September 10, 2020, Resolute won three Stevie® Awards in The 2020 International Business Awards (IBAs) competition. Resolute President and Chief Executive Officer Yves Laflamme received a silver award in the Executive of the Year – Manufacturing category for his contributions to sustainability. The company also won bronze Stevies in the Achievement in Human Resources and Human Resources Department of the Year categories for its employee relations and recruitment programs. The 2020 IBAs received 3,800 entries from organizations in 63 nations, and the winners were determined by more than 250 executives worldwide.
